January 2010 Archives

So we had our ultrasound today. It is looking like Jessica is going to have a little baby..........BROTHER!! Yay, we didn't break the trend in my family. Each of us now have a daughter and a son. The hard part is that we have to come up with a boy name that we can agree on now. If Jessica had been born a boy we would have had to come up with a name very quickly. We never could agree on a boy name just in case the ultrasound was wrong. I don't think we have to worry about whether it is wrong this time....It was quite obvious!! As you can see I have already posted the newest baby pic over on the right...If you click on it and look at it bigger it actually looks like he is smiling a little. It is crazy how just knowing the sex makes it feel even realer then it did before. I sure can't wait to meet the little guy!

I am 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant today and let me tell you...I am really starting to feel pregnant!!! I think this baby has decided that I don't need my bladder and has sat on it until it is super small because I seriously have to go pee around 10-15 times per day. At least I feel like I do...I don't really go much once I try.

The throwing up has slowed way down but the morning nausea seems to stick around until I eat breakfast and sometimes it stays until lunch time. I am almost always fine by evening. I have discovered which cupboard in the kitchen was making me throw up to open so I have started keeping my cereal on the counter so I would not have to open it before I eat. Much better!!

So, tomorrow is the big day! We get to go in tomorrow morning and see the baby on ultrasound and hopefully find out what we are having. I am very excited for it!

Tuesday is Jessica's 15 month check up...yes I know she is already 16 months old but her doc in Portland told me that her next check up would be at 18 months and when we moved here her new doc said she should have had a 15 month check up so we are having it a little late. Poor baby has to get a bunch of shots tomorrow.....I hate seeing her get shots!!

Jessica and I have been having a lot of fun during the days going to the children's museum and to the park. She loves to walk around...I think it makes her feel like a big girl! She chases the birds around quacking at them...it is so cute! She has tried to run a few times and that usually ends with her face down on the ground. She hasn't quite got enough balance to run yet. She sure is happy when she is trying though.

Jessica strutting along the path at the park. She looks so proud!

She has really started to enjoy going to the children's museum lately. She is very exploratory and just has to go around and touch or climb on anything and everything she can. She seemed to really enjoy the padded jungle gym.

Jessica peeking at me through the tunnel.

I am so blessed to be able to stay at home with her every day. I have so much fun playing with her and teaching her new things. She surprises me every day at how fast she learns things. She has such an amazing personality and I love to watch it blossoming more and more every day. There are times when I am just sitting there watching her play and she will look up at me and just decide on her own that she wants to give me a hug and kiss so she just gets up and comes over and throws herself into my arms. What can be better than that?? I love that girl more than I could ever imagine possible!

Last Saturday I was laying in bed with my hand on my tummy and I felt a kick! It was the first one that I knew for sure was the baby kicking. I have felt many more light kicks since then. Feeling those first kicks is just as amazing the second time around. What is weird to me is that I am so used to Jessica being the baby in my life that it is hard to believe there is another person who is not Jessica growing inside me.

One week from today and we can start calling baby a he or she hopefully! That baby better start getting into a good position to be able to tell now.

I must say I am a lot more nervous about this baby coming then I was about Jessica's arrival. I guess it is because I know how hard it was with Jessica and the thought of doing that again with a toddler also scares me to death!! Also this time Jake will be at work all day (aside from whatever time off he takes in the beginning). He was around most of the days when Jessica was little and was very helpful. Now once he goes back to work I will really be on my own. Jessica was around 6 months old before I was really on my own the first time. I am glad we have friends here who also have small babies so we can all support one another because we are all going to need it!

Jessica is doing really well. She is getting cuter and cuter every day! She is sleeping a lot better then she used to, from 8pm until 8am. It is so fun to watch her as we put her to bed. She sleeps with a stuffed sheep, bunny and frog. When we lay her down she grabs them all and tucks them under her arms. I can't imagine that is a very comfortable way to sleep but she seems to do just fine. She is also walking really well lately which is so nice since she is crazy heavy now (around 24 pounds). She has started to repeat words we say to her and she says some of them very clearly. Here are the words she can say right now: mama, dada, baby, bye bye, hi, book, shoe, sock, ball, poke, uh oh, all done, more, yes, no no, up & down. They don't all sound exactly right but they sound enough like them to get the point across.

We have started potty training. She knows what going potty is and she knows that when mama and dada go potty we do it in the bathroom. Basically before she gets a bath at night I set her down on her potty chair and tell her to go potty. She hasn't done it yet but I am just hoping to associate in her head that going potty is what she does on that potty. I don't expect her to do it anytime soon but it would be really nice if she could be potty trained before the next baby arrives in June. If not it isn't a big deal, it would just be nice. Here are some recent pics of my beautiful little girl:
